Kei was abandoned by her parents and has been a street rat up until she was brought into a foster care. She took on a job for a tailor as an assistant to earn for herself to leave the orphanage. Though the pay was decent, the tailor had practices that was quite abusive to inhumane but she had to endure it. But one fatal mistake changed her life.
The Underworld is a vast place where souls around the universe all go when they perish. It is ruled by multiple gods but Umbra reigns to be the most powerful among them. Her practices on how she approaches souls were questionable and ultimately looked down upon by the other gods. The other gods banded together to betray and rebel against Umbra.
One fated day brought the two together. Kei’s determination to survive against her abusive employer and Umbra’s determination for revenge after her fall fused their souls together. Umbra being enraged and fueled by vengeance had little regard for her new host body while with Kei not knowing fully the demon within her led to the two not getting along with each other and even outright fighting their other halves.
After the ordeal of killing Kei’s former employer, the young street rat was then taken in by a man that so happens to be a mafia boss. He was mostly known as Priestly, for he is rather a holy man but regardless his subordinates all feared and respected him. Kei works hard as his protege till the day arrives when Priestly retires and appoints Kei as the new head of the family.
Despite being a mafia boss, Kei upheld her predecessors teachings of protecting the weak and destroying the corrupt. However being a criminal mob boss the gaze of the law is still ever present. This was how she met a rather surprising detective…a rather dead one in fact. She met the Ghost Detective named JawLaw due to a little misunderstanding to which he thought that she was the perpetrator of a certain crime. It turns out that Kei was framed and the both Kei and JawLaw took that the true mastermind behind the said crime. Eventually the two of them find mutual interest with one another and will alter on pursue a romantic relationship together.
Later on Kei did not only rely on her mafia and her subordinates. She found individuals that she can treat as her equals, along these individuals was the aforementioned ghost detective, a dragon, an oni, a supernatural heister, an alien, and many more.
This group will be later on be known as The Night Parade.
One day other rival gangs and mafia groups decided to all ambush Kei due to her growing influence. Remembering her past Umbra stepped in once again, she didn’t wish for Kei to experience the same death that she did, and that she didn’t for any harm to come to Kei. At this point Kei and Umbra grow their bond and relationship, having a new understanding for one another. The two knew that they can no longer live without their other half and in turn they should accept each other. This results in their most powerful form being born.
